I feel certain that if, in our homes, parents will read from The Book of Mormon prayerfully and regularly, both by themselves and with their children, the spirit of that great book will come to permeate our homes and all who dwell therein. The spirit of reverence will increase; mutual respect and consideration for each other will grow. The spirit of contention will depart. Parents will counsel their children in greater love and wisdom. Children will be more responsive and submissive to the counsel of their parents. Righteousness will increase. Faith, hope, and charity - the pure love of Christ - will abound in our homes and lives, bringing in their wake peace, joy, and happiness.

Helaman 3, 4 & 5

This is tomorrow's reading. Fridays seem to be a little more quiet around here.

Wow these chapters are great. There were a lot of great chapters but the theme that resonated with me was hope, God is in charge.

The nephite nation had fallen into Pride and wickedness and saw that the Lord would not support them in battle. There were still righteous people however and all were worried that the numerous Lamanite nation would completely overtake them. From all accounts they were doomed. So what does God do? Converts the Lamanites through a large miracle in the prison.

Was that completely out of left field or what? We were worried about the Nephites and the Lord converts the Lamanites and BAM things are better. It just made me think that the Lord can change any circumstance no matter how dire in a way that is completely unexpected. That gave me a lot of hope. No matter how bad things get on earth they are never impossible to change. Like David and Goliath by small and simple things great things can come to pass and confound the wise.

These were some great chapters!

Wasn't that a fantastic end to some doom filled chapters!

I loved them too. Out of all the darkness and evil, there was light for those that would receive. I love the hope, it shows that even when the world is falling apart God is mindful of his children.
