I had a dream last night and in this dream I recalled several wonderful messages given during Conference, I remembered them with great fondness but I could not recall what I felt prompted to do with that new knowledge. Nor could I specifically recall who said what.
When I woke up I decided that I needed to follow the scriptures and not be just a 'hearer of the word, only'. Conference talks are living scriptures, we can learn so much from them.
If it's okay with Julie and everyone else, I'd like to read and review a talk a week. Maybe more, if we get a good response. I will post an online link to the talk so everyone can read it. Then leave your impressions, things that touched you, something you learned and an action we are called to do, through the talk.
We'll just go in order beginning with the Saturday morning session. The first talk was the Welcome to Conference message by President Monson.

I'll go first.
First of all I am amazed at the growth of the church, there are so many temples being built. Built for the children of God, to receive the blessings of the temple.
I loved this from the end of his talk;
" Now, my brothers and sisters, we have come here to be instructed and inspired. Some of you are new in the Church. We welcome you. Some of you are struggling with problems, with challenges, with disappointments, with losses. We love you and pray for you. Many messages will be shared during the next two days. I can assure you that those men and women who will speak to you have prayed about what they should say. They have been inspired and impressed as they have sought heaven’s help and direction.
Our Heavenly Father is mindful of each one of us and our needs. May we be filled with His Spirit as we partake of the proceedings"
After this opening I am more impressed that I do Need to review the talks for the very reason that so much thought and prayer was put into them, that I can learn something.
When President Monson spoke of Elder Faust as a young missionary in 1940 I was reminded of what a great man he is. And then when they posted a picture of him and the entire congregation cheered I was reminded of the scripture that says, "And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring save it be one soul unto me how great shall be your joy... And now, if your joy will be great with one soul that you have brought unto me into the kingdom of my Father, how great will be your joy if you should bring many souls unto me!
President Faust must have a lot of joy.
I am also very thankful for the Saints in Alberta to have another Temple. My best friend lives in Calgary and it is a very long drive down to Cardston. I'm sure the Temple will be a great blessing to the area.
